Die Canon EOS 700D wird von demselben Digic 5-Prozessor angetrieben, der in neueren Kompaktkameras wie der zu finden istCanon G1 Xund bietet erweiterte JPEG-Verarbeitungsfunktionen wie Objektiv-CA-Korrektur und Vignettierung.
Der 700D reagiert schnell auf Benutzereingaben, sei es über externe Tasten und Drehregler oder den Touchscreen. Auch das Durchsuchen und Vergrößern von Bildern im Wiedergabemodus erfolgt sehr schnell. Bei manueller Fokussierung kann die Kamera in knapp 0,4 Sekunden eingeschaltet werden und ein Standbild aufnehmen. Kurz gesagt: Es ist unwahrscheinlich, dass Sie auf die Kamera warten müssen, außer wenn Sie sehr prozessorintensive Vorgänge wie die neuen Aufnahmemodi HDR Backlight Control und Handheld Night Scene oder die Rauschunterdrückung bei Langzeitbelichtung verwenden.
Kontinuierliche Aufnahme und Pufferung

Wie Sie in der Tabelle unten sehen können, hängen die Leistungsunterschiede von der Pufferkapazität der Kamera ab. Wenn Sie beispielsweise im RAW+JPEG-Modus fotografieren, erhalten Sie nur sehr wenige Aufnahmen mit 5 Bildern pro Sekunde, bevor die Kamera auf eine niedrige Aufnahmerate von 1 Bild pro Sekunde abfällt.

Im Serienaufnahmemodus behält die 700D ihre maximale Bildrate bei, bis sie ihre Pufferkapazität erreicht und Bilddaten auf die SD-Karte auslagern muss. Wenn dies geschieht, nimmt die Kamera für mehrere Bilder immer langsamere Bildraten auf, bis sie sich bei den in der Tabelle unten aufgeführten „Puffer-Vollraten“ einpendelt.

Mit einer Aufnahmerate, die sie zu den leistungsstärksten ihrer Klasse macht, ist die 700D eine weitaus praktikablere Option als frühere Rebel-Modelle für diejenigen, die Freizeitsport- und Actionaufnahmen im reinen JPEG-Modus machen möchten.

Autofokus-Leistung
Canons Spiegelreflexkameras genießen seit langem einen guten Ruf für ihren schnellen Phasenerkennungs-Autofokus bei Aufnahmen durch den Sucher. Und diese Tradition wird in der EOS 650D fortgeführt. Mit einem 9-Punkt-Kreuz-AF-Array, entlehnt von derEOS 60DDie Fokussierung ist bei unterschiedlichsten Lichtverhältnissen angenehm scharf. Es kann zu einer Fokussierung kommen, allerdings nur, wenn Motive mit extrem geringem Kontrast fotografiert werden. Und bei sehr schwachem Licht wünschten wir uns ein spezielles AF-Hilfslicht, wie es bei Einsteigermodellen wie dem zu finden istNikon D3200, Zum Beispiel. Bei der 700D müssen Sie den Blitz ausklappen, um beim Fokussieren zu helfen. Insgesamt gibt es jedoch kaum etwas auszusetzen am Phasenerkennungs-AF der 700D.
Die Einführung von Live-View- und Videomodi als Standard-Kamerafunktionen hat jedoch die schlechte Autofokus-Leistung von DSLRs (im Vergleich zu den besten spiegellosen Modellen) bei Verwendung des Kontrasterkennungs-AF im Live-View deutlich gemacht. Das „Hybrid CMOS AF“-System der 700D nutzt beide PhasenerkennungenUndKontrasterkennungsmethoden zur Scharfstellung im Live-View-Modus.
Hybrider Autofokus
Das On-Imager-Phasendetektionssystem der 700D bedeutet, dass das Autofokussystem in der Live-Ansicht von den umfassenden Kenntnissen des Unternehmens zur Phasendetektion der Motivverfolgung profitieren kann. Das bedeutet auch, dass die Kamera immer weiß, in welcher Richtung sie mit der Suche nach dem Fokus beginnen muss, wenn Sie in der Nähe der Bildmitte fokussieren (siehe Abbildung unten). Systeme, die ausschließlich auf der Kontrasterkennung basieren, können dies manchmal falsch machen, was zur Folge hat, dass die Kamera völlig unscharf fokussiert, bevor sie wieder zurückkommt, was zu einem Video führt, das plötzlich völlig unscharf wird, bevor es wiederhergestellt wird.

Im Live-View-Modus wird das Phasenerkennungssystem verwendet, um zu erkennen, wo sich das Motiv gerade befindet. Anschließend wird die Kontrasterkennung aktiviert, um den Fokus fein abzustimmen. Dadurch wird zwar das „Fokuswackeln“ bei der Bestätigung der Fokussierung durch die Kamera nicht vollständig beseitigt, aber theoretisch sollte es dank der Kombination der beiden AF-Technologien das Fokussieren deutlich reduzieren – zumindest bei Motiven, die sich nahe der Mitte der Szene befinden. Diese Hybrid-AF-Technologie ist mit allen EF-kompatiblen Objektiven verfügbar. Allerdings ist zu beachten, dass es nur mit den STM-Objektiven von Canon möglich istEF-S 18-55 mm f/3,5-5,6 IS STMUndEF-S 18-135 mm f/3,5-5,6 IS STMKit-Zooms (entworfen für eine effizientere Kontrasterkennungs-AF-Leistung), sodass Sie die Vorteile des Hybrid-AF-Systems voll ausnutzen können.
Die Frage ist natürlich: „Funktioniert es?“. Die gute Nachricht ist, dass wir eine spürbare Verbesserung der Leistung des Live-View-AF festgestellt haben. Durch die Verwendung eines STM-Objektivs mit zunächst auf Unendlich eingestelltem Fokus und anschließendem Fokussieren mit AF auf ein kontrastreiches Vordergrundmotiv sperrt die 700D wie die EOS 650D den Fokus in fast der Hälfte der ZeitEOS 600D.
Und da Sie, wie bereits erwähnt, den größten Nutzen aus den STM-Objektiven von Canon ziehen, bietet die Möglichkeit, die 700D mit einer STM-Version des EF-S 18-55-mm-Kit-Zooms zu kaufen, Vorteile sowohl im Hinblick auf eine schnellere Fokussierungsgeschwindigkeit als auch leiser Betrieb über die Optik, die im Lieferumfang der EOS 650D enthalten ist.
Allerdings müssen wir mit Enttäuschung feststellen, dass selbst mit montiertem STM-Objektiv die AF-Leistung im Live-View-Modus immer noch deutlich hinter der AF-Leistung der besseren spiegellosen Kameras auf dem Markt zurückbleibt. Der Ansatz von Canon ist ein (willkommener) Fortschritt, aber Tatsache bleibt, dass die 700D selbst mit diesem Hybrid-AF-System im Live-View-Modus (und damit im Videomodus) viel länger braucht, um den Fokus zu erreichen, als bei Aufnahmen durch den Sucher verwendet herkömmlichen Phasendetektions-AF.

Genauigkeit und Tracking des Autofokus
Der traditionelle Phasendetektions-AF der EOS 700D ist sehr schnell und beeindruckend genau. Selbst bei schlechten Lichtverhältnissen fokussiert die Kamera erfolgreich alle Motive bis auf den geringsten Kontrast.
Die EOS 700D kann mit 5 Bildern pro Sekunde fotografieren und erwartungsgemäß ist der Phasendetektions-AF von Canon ziemlich gut darin, den Fokus auf sich kontinuierlich bewegende Motive zu verfolgen. Bei unserem realen Einsatz der Kamera mit dem neuen 18-135 STM-Objektiv haben wir Läufer und Radfahrer fotografiert, die sich in relativ schnellen Clips auf die Kamera zubewegten. Bei aufeinanderfolgenden Serienaufnahmen konnten wir bei fast der Hälfte der Gesamtbelichtungen auch bei schwierigen Gegenlichtverhältnissen akzeptable scharfe Ergebnisse erzielen. Diese Art der Leistung eignet sich gut für Fußballmütter und andere, die Freizeitsport betreiben.
Batterielebensdauer
Die EOS 700D verwendet den gleichen LP-E8-Lithium-Ionen-Akku wie die Modelle EOS 650D und 600D. Es verfügt über eine Kapazität von 1120 mAh, was laut Canon für etwa 440 Aufnahmen (CIPA-Standard) oder etwa 1 Stunde und 40 Minuten Filmaufnahmezeit reicht. Natürlich hängt die Akkulaufzeit weitgehend von den Aufnahmebedingungen und den Bedienungsgewohnheiten ab; Live-View versus Suchernutzung zum Beispiel. Dennoch entspricht unser tägliches Aufnahmeerlebnis mit der Kamera in etwa den Spezifikationen von Canon.
Auch wenn die Bildkapazität unter 500 sicherlich am unteren Ende dessen liegt, was man von einer Einsteiger-DSLR erwarten würde, kann man damit einen ganzen Drehtag lang durchhalten. Bei unseren Shooting-Ausflügen mussten wir den Akku meist jede Nacht aufladen, um für den nächsten Tag ausreichend Kapazität zu haben. Bei mehrtägigen Fotoaufnahmen wäre es jedoch ratsam, einen Ersatzakku einzupacken. Eine weitere, teurere und deutlich sperrigere Lösung ist der optionale Batteriegriff BG-E8, der zwei Batteriepacks gleichzeitig aufnehmen kann und die Verwendung von AA-Batterien ermöglicht.

Ultimately the T5 is a camera that will take someone that has never used a DSLR and get them into the action quickly due to its ease of use. But even in that case we're hard-pressed to recommend it.
